I often wonder which “popular” and or successful people imbibe in a bowl every now and then. The personal side of me is just curious, especially when I’m high…except when I have my Dabwoods in hand, then I’m in a different dimension. My business side wants to find a way to get them in the store, snap a picture with me behind the DJ booth and light up some Glazed Cherry with them.
We are all aware of the standard marijuana pundits such as the Willie Nelson’s, Bob Marley’s, Jerry Garcia’s etc.. However, there are some notables that might surprise you. I listed a few of them below. Let me know what you think and if you have someone that should be on the list.
Abraham Lincoln – Apparently several presidents were chronic fans, but it was honest Abe who is quoted all over the Internet as music: “Two of my favorite things are sitting on my front porch smoking a pipe of sweet hemp and playing my Hohner harmonica.” Can you imagine Lincoln and his generals sitting around the fire passing blunts and discussing war strategy. Whoa.
Lady Gaga is also one of us. She started smoking to manage hip pain, until it became a problem. She reportedly got to a point where she was smoking 15 joints a day. She is quoted as saying “I have to be high to be creative.”
Carl Sagan – There’s a reason Cosmos is so fun to watch stoned. Your boy Sagan spent most his adult years as an avid smoker. He probably invested the Dab rig.
Bill Maher – The television host made a solid point about pot’s ridiculous state-by-state laws by lighting a doosie of a blunt on Real Time.
Bill Gates – is so rich, he would literally lose money by bending over to pick up a $100 bill. The Co-founder Microsoft publicly backed the 2012 referendum to legalize cannabis in Washington….and yes he partakes, according to Stephen Manes, the author of Gates: How Microsoft’s Mogul Reinvented an Industry – And Made Himself the Richest Man in America.
Hugh Hefner – Longtime playmate and coveted girlfriend, Holly Madison revealed in her tall all book: Down the Rabbit Hole: Curious Adventures and Cautionary Tales of a Former Playboy Bunny that Hef nightly puffed. How fun it would be to sit around the Grotto and light up with the bunnies.
Kirsten Dunst – was introduced to it by Carl Sagan’s daughter Sasha, who was one of her best friends.
Robert Mitchum – The late great underrated actor who was actually arrested for marijuana possession in 1948. One of the earliest celebrities busted for loving the green.
Nate and Nick Diaz – UFC fighter Diaz has no qualms pluming it up with his vape pen on live television. Three different companies created a personalized bong line for both him and his UFC fighting brother, Nick, who was suspended due to marijuana use at the time. Nick has also called himself the “No. 1 athletic stoner – besides Michael Phelps.”
Steve Jobs – In addition to dropping acid, Steve liked his pot brownies. Putting on a turtleneck must be fun after that.
Whoopi Goldberg – Whoopi is actually a major player in cannabis, marketing products specifically targeting to menstrual cramps. Since launching in 2016, her line includes tinctures, body balm and bath soak. “Smoking a joint is fine, but most people can’t smoke a joint and go to work”, she said.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar – Basketball Hall of Famer Adbul-Jabbar tried to bring herb from Toronto back the U.S. in 1998, but he got caught. Police also arrested him on the suspicion he was under the influence of marijuana. Though pot didn’t just score the athlete trouble. At least Tommy Chong attributes schwag for keeping Adbul-Jabbar “playing eight years past his prime.”
Brad Pitt – Director Quentin Tarantino spilled the beans on Jimmy Kimmel. Pitt actually has a house in Palm Springs. If you happen to know him, bring him on by the store. He would so much sexier in a Stinky Leaf shirt and hat.
